jamiejulienbrown.com is an independent archive. It holds no stock, takes no orders and has no prices, and it cannot reserve, value or authenticate any work. Nothing on this site should be read as an offer to sell.
What was offered
On the original website the only pieces offered as objects were the White Totem Lights. They came in two sizes, small at about 60 cm high and large at about 110 cm high. Each one is made of individually sourced glass lampshades stacked around a glowing core on a concrete base. Earlier totems in colour and a row of miniature totems also appear in the image library.
Wall paintings, signage and the interior commissions were made for specific buildings, so they were never sold as objects.
Because every totem was assembled from found glass, any two examples of the same size will differ in their shades, their order and their overall outline. That is part of the design rather than a defect, but it also means a photograph cannot be used to prove that a particular light is genuine, so the history of a piece is the most reliable guide.

If you are considering buying a piece
Provenance
Ask for the history of the piece: where it was bought, when, and any receipt or correspondence. Hand-made work comes in one-off variations, so a clear paper trail matters more than a resemblance to a photograph.
Glass and base
Stacked lights combine found glass with a heavy concrete base. Check every shade for chips and hairline cracks, and check that the stack is secure and that the base sits level and is not cracked.
Wiring
Any light bought second-hand should be checked by a qualified electrician before use, especially the cable, plug and lamp holder. Replace bulbs with the type and wattage the fitting was designed for.
